James BermanLawyer

Formerly of Johnston Lawrence Lawyers (new Zealand) and before that Holley Nethercote Lawyers in Melbourne, James joined Kelly Hazell Quill in September 2011 and practices in the commercial litigation team.

James gained exposure to in-house legal practice during his time at Siemens Australia where his role encompassed both commercial and legal elements.

James has attained dispute resolution experience across the entire spectrum of the Court hierarchies in Australia and New Zealand with a focus upon shareholder disputes, professional negligence claims and insolvency matters. James has also had direct involvement in a number of commercial mediations and arbitrations and has a strong focus on keeping clients out of court.

In addition to his litigation practice, James has advised clients of all sizes on general commercial matters including contractual negotiations, capital raisings and licensing and regulation matters involving ASIC and the ACCC.

James has experience acting for clients across a variety of sectors including manufacturing, IT and construction with a particular focus on the financial services industry.
